This is the weekend I have been preparing for since August. Months of throwing clay, glazing pots and firing to reach this moment. Bending the law of physics, I will have a presence in two concurrent shows in Northern Virginia this weekend.
The first show and sale is in Alexandria, Virgina at the Art League’s annual Holiday Pottery Show and Sale. The sale showcases the work of 20+ Art League ceramics students and associates (like me). I will be working the show Friday from 11 to 2 so stop in and see some great pots and enjoy cider and cookies.
Friday, December 4: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Saturday, December 5: 10:00 am to 6:00 pm
Sunday, December 6: 12 noon to 5:00 pm

Following my sales duties at the Art League, I will be heading back to Arlington, Virginia to set up for Mistletoe Mall at the Unitarian Universalist Church. Saturday and Sunday, 15 vendors and artists (including me) will be selling handmade items from around the world. I have attended this sale every year for 6 years and its a fun and intimate place to do your holiday shopping. There are two potters: myself and Dana Lehner Danze, and some great jewelers, knitters and painters.
Saturday, December 5th: 10am – 4pm
Sunday, December 6th: 1pm – 4pm

I am much less agitated by the commercialism of the holidays when I shop at venues like these. So come on out and support some local artists and the organizations that support them.
